Don’t be fooled by the enemy’s ploys to keep you isolated. I know…you say you’re an introvert and prefer and enjoy doing things alone. And while we all have our social preferences, take care not to allow your personal comforts and preferences to keep you from being vulnerable with others.
Remember, the enemy desires to sift you as wheat, and what better way to do that than to get and keep you isolated. Isolated from family, “good friends”, mentors, spiritual leaders and loved ones who often see things you don’t, and can be a sounding board and offer good counsel.
The scriptures remind us “Where there is no [wise, intelligent] guidance, the people fall [and go off course like a ship without a helm], But in the abundance of [wise and godly] counselors there is victory.” Proverbs 11:14 AMP
“Researcher and author Brené Brown said, “Vulnerability is the core, the heart, the center, of meaningful human experiences.” Or put another way: we must be known in order to be healthy. So tell me the people who know you and how deep that knowledge runs, and I will tell you how healthy you are”.
Ask God and He will lead you. Don’t be lulled into believing you can navigate this thing called life alone, or “it’s just you and God alone”. God also put us together on this earth for relationship—and the right relationships keep us balanced, out of our own heads, from drinking our own “kool-aid”, and from being tripped up by the enemy.
As Jennie Allen notes in her devotional, Stop the Spiral of Negative Thoughts, “instead of letting the enemy hold you captive in isolation, remind yourself of this truth: I have a choice. I can remember that the Spirit of God lives inside me and will walk with me as I reach out to others who are just as human and just as in need of connection and grace as I am.”
