Let Go of the Reigns

On every level of life…hurry and impatience are sure marks of an amateur – Evelyn Underhill

Funny, we’re all in such a hurry these days. Our lives are like a conveyor belt— we tend to move at a fast pace, continuing to add/take on the next thing without ever stopping to reflect and reformulate. Moreover, we expect everyone else to operate at our pace. And truth be told, we sometimes expect God to operate at our pace and in our timing. And when He doesn’t, we think He’s failed us. We never step back to consider whether our pace is out of step with His. We must ask ourselves, who’s ordering our steps—is it God or us?

When we move too quickly, we miss things. God is not concerned with how quickly we get to a place, but how deliberate and patient we are in the process—how open we are to hearing His voice while we wait.

The Bible reminds us, “Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a huge crowd of witnesses to the life of faith, let us strip off every weight that slows us down, especially the sin that so easily trips us up. And let us run with endurance the race God has set before us.”  Hebrews‬ ‭12:1‬ ‭NLT‬‬

Patience (with ourselves, with others, with God) is essential if we’re to get the most from our Christian journey. The question is, are we brave enough, do we love and trust God enough to remain patient while waiting?

Love You to Life!!
