Let It Go, Let It Go
(Adapted from Fear Not! A Journey from Fear to Freedom devotional)
Sound like one of the songs from Disney’s “Frozen” film? Read on as this is much, much more. Most proud people don’t want to be dependent upon anyone or anything. They take pride in being able to fend for themselves. Ouch, that’s all too familiar for me.
God, on the other hand, loves it when His children are dependent upon Him. A proud person is probably reluctant to even admit he/she has anxieties [and fears]. [So please] don’t let your pride get in the way of your freedom.
Are there some things you are holding on to that make you anxious [or afraid]? If so, why do you continue holding on to them? [You cannot] expect God to come in and steal your anxieties from you. But if you ask, He will graciously take them off your hands.
That being said, we simply need to let go of our pride and self-sufficient attitude, and cry out to God!
Now I realize that’s easier said than done sometimes, but we have to let go of the reigns if we want God to come in. You’re all familiar with Nike’s iconic mantra, “Just Do It.” And so we must learn to “Just Let Go and Let God—He Wants It All!!”
There’s a song I love by Forever Jones, entitled “He Wants It All”. Clear your mind as you listen to this song and also meditate on the following scriptures as you begin the process of letting go.
“And who of you by worrying can add one hour to [the length of] his life?” Matthew 6:27 AMP
“Each time he said, “My grace is all you need. My power works best in weakness.” So now I am glad to boast about my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ can work through me. That’s why I take pleasure in my weaknesses, and in the insults, hardships, persecutions, and troubles that I suffer for Christ. For when I am weak, then I am strong.”
2 Corinthians 12:9-10 NLT
Prayer: Thank You, Lord, that You really do care for me. Forgive me for not taking every anxious [or fearful] thought to You in prayer. I confess to having pride issues and trying to do it on my own. May I humble myself before You and admit I can’t do it under my own strength. I need You. In Jesus name, Amen!
Love You All to Life!
