It’s Yours for the Asking
Hindsight is 2020, and foresight is even better – Sharon Thompson
How many times have we made that hindsight statement? My experience has been in response to some decision I made that didn’t turn out quite right or as a way to encourage others that we all make mistakes and errors in judgement.
The reality of the matter is that we all being human will err from time to time. The key is not to focus or linger too long on the mistake to the point that it locks us in a rut and keeps us from moving forward. Our focus must remain on the process we took to get there and what we’ve learned from it.
Wisdom gives us insight (and foresight to some extent) by allowing us to see and understand things we otherwise may have overlooked or ignored. So don’t be too anxious—step back and seek wisdom and understanding above everything. And know that God won’t leave you to go at it alone. His Word provides crystal clear instructions in these matters:
“If any of you lacks wisdom [to guide him through a decision or circumstance], he is to ask of [our benevolent] God, who gives to everyone generously and without rebuke or blame, and it will be given to him. But he must ask [for wisdom] in faith, without doubting [God’s willingness to help], for the one who doubts is like a billowing surge of the sea that is blown about and tossed by the wind. For such a person ought not to think or expect that he will receive anything [at all] from the Lord, being a double-minded man, unstable and restless in all his ways [in everything he thinks, feels, or decides].”
James 1:5-8 AMP
