Freedom in Transparency

(Excerpts and inspiration from Underneath the Surface by Nina Jones)

“Confess your sins to each other and pray for each other…the earnest prayer of a righteous person has great power and produces wonderful results.” James‬ ‭5‬:‭16‬ ‭NLT‬‬

“Don’t copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will learn to know God’s will for you, which is good and pleasing and perfect.”

‭‭Romans‬ ‭12‬:‭2‬ ‭NLT‬‬

I know we’ve all heard the saying, confession is good for the soul. “It means healing begins when we stop hiding or pretending and start opening up to others. God works through confession and community to bring us freedom from the things that weigh us down and hold us back.”

Unfortunately, we live in a society where pretending has become common. Look at social media for example. Many anxiously post their status based on what they wish things to look like, what they want others to believe, rather than what they really are. The Bible says the truth will make us free (John 8:32).

Can you imagine the relief that comes from being transparent…coming out of hiding and letting go of shame? Can you imagine being free from the weight of your burdens and the consequences of sin? God asks us to cast our burdens on Him and He also admonishes us to confess to one another.

“Admitting weakness isn’t failure. It’s a step toward freedom.”

Prayer: God help me to come from under the weight of secrecy and present all things honest before You and others.

Level Up: Ask God to direct you to a trustworthy accountability partner, one who will not judge or compare you to others but pray with and for you and lovingly challenge your thinking as required.

Love You All to Life! ❤️
