Pray, Prepare and Watch
(Inspired by Less Noise, More God devotional by Joon Tavarez)
“Then all those virgins arose and trimmed their lamps. And the foolish said to the wise, ‘Give us some of your oil, for our lamps are going out.’ But the wise answered, saying, ‘No, lest there should not be enough for us and you; but go rather to those who sell, and buy for yourselves.’ And while they went to buy, the bridegroom came, and those who were ready went in with him to the wedding; and the door was shut.”
Matthew 25:7-10 NKJV
For centuries now there have been warnings of the Lord’s imminent return. Some of us have taken it seriously and sought the Lord while others have slumbered and slept—thinking they have plenty of time. And some may have even taken the posture that they could live it up and the Lord in His infinite grace and mercy would accept them on their dead bed.
The Bible declares that no one knows the day nor the hour. Have you ever had a dream where you missed an important event or appointment. Maybe it was a work meeting/ conference, an interview, a flight or a cruise. What horror to realize the doors were shut and you missed it.
I submit to you that like the 5 wise virgins we must always be on the ready. Ready as the Word says to give an answer to every man who asks the reason for the hope that lies within us. Ready to go with God when He calls.
Let’s not allow life to distract us from our destiny. Let’s keep our lamps trimmed, and be on watch and in wait for the Lord. Preparation is key…it’s not a rush job but a lifelong commitment.
What have you done lately to ensure your readiness for God’s calling?
Love You All to Life!
