And the Glory Belongs To… Give God His “Creds”
We know the difference between when God does something great in our lives versus us doing it out of our own strength. And yet, we sometimes lean towards taking the credit instead of giving God the praise. And God is not pleased when we steal His glory.
Let’s be honest, perhaps we do it because we’re trying to impress others—let them know how smart and wise and self-sufficient we are. And just maybe, to some extent we’re ashamed to let others know that it is God in Whose strength we operate. Think about that for just a moment.
Remember the words of the prophet Paul, “For it is [not your strength, but it is] God who is effectively at work in you, both to will and to work [that is, strengthening, energizing, and creating in you the longing and the ability to fulfill your purpose] for His good pleasure.” Philippians 2:13 AMP
When we steal God’s glory we cut off our own blessings and we’ll eventually pay the price. Our egos will spin out of control and as the scripture says, “pride precedes a great fall”. I know it’s hard to hear but we must put on our big girl and big boy pants and be accountable for our actions.
However, that doesn’t have to be the end of our story and we can take some lessons from Joseph when he was faced with interpreting dreams that might not be well received. Yet, Joseph faced the fear [of Pharaoh’s potential reaction to the bad news] head on, stood in faith, and determined to give God the glory rather than take the credit.
The Bible admonishes, “Therefore humble yourselves under the mighty hand of God [set aside self-righteous pride], so that He may exalt you [to a place of honor in His service] at the appropriate time.” 1 Peter 5:6 AMP
And God did just that for Joseph and He’ll do it just for you! So whatever you’re facing today that gives you pause about how others will see you, whatever tempts you to take all credit, humble yourself and Give God His credits. Give Him the glory in All things!!
Love You All to Life!
