Safe In His Arms
(Inspiration and excerpts from Be Still devotional Day 5, by Kim Proffer)
Those who live in the shelter of the Most High will find rest in the shadow of the Almighty…He alone is my refuge, my place of safety; He is my God, and I trust Him. For He will rescue you from every trap and protect you from deadly disease. He will cover you with His feathers. He will shelter you with His wings. His faithful promises are your armor and protection.
Psalms 91:1-4 NLT
Like a mother hen, God is very protective of His children. We can go to Him with any and everything and He promised to be our armor and protection.
But as is human nature, we have a tendency to be self-sufficient, to lean on our own thoughts and strength. Part of getting to know God is being vulnerable by sharing our deepest hurts, disappointments and fears, and leaning on Him for wisdom, guidance and protection. The Bible declares that in our weakness His strength is made perfect. This means when we humble ourselves we make room for Him to show us what only He alone can accomplish on our behalf/ in our lives.
As one writer said, “He aches to see you overwhelmed by circumstances that leave you helpless. He longs to shelter you in times of despair. If you want to get to know someone at their core, learn what makes them cry. The Bible tells us that Jesus mourned over the fact that people were oblivious to the depth of His love for them.”
Prayer: Father God, “teach us to immerse ourselves in You. Reveal Your extraordinary character to us in the ordinary activities of our day.” And remind us that we are always safe in Your arms!
Love You All to Life!
