Time for a Heart Check
Have you ever found yourself teetering and tottering between trusting God and fearing for your circumstances, whether it be finances, job security, knowledge and understanding, whether you have enough?
What more does God have to say about the subject of fear and His love for us? We’ve all read countless scriptures but what is it that keeps us from embracing the truth of His word? I ask myself that same question, and honestly feel quite frustrated with myself at times because I personally know God as a Healer, Provider, Deliverer and yet I still fall back and doubt Him when faced with challenging circumstances.
It’s as though with each new trial I revert to leaning to my own strength—which fails me every time! And I “know” intellectually that Jesus is my source and sufficiency. Ah…there it is—it’s not about the intellect but rather the heart. Our hearts and will must align to accept and embrace that which goes beyond what our minds can understand or accept.
So, the next time you find yourself overcome with doubt, worry, and fear in spite of what you know about Jesus’ promises, do a heart check. Get out of your head, your intellect and declare the word:
“The Lord is my strength and my [impenetrable] shield; My heart trusts [with unwavering confidence] in Him, and I am helped; Therefore my heart greatly rejoices, And with my song I shall thank Him and praise Him.”
Psalms 28:7 AMP
“Trust in and rely confidently on the Lord with all your heart And do not rely on your own insight or understanding.” Proverbs 3:5 AMP
Prayer: Lord, I am committed to do my best to love You with all of my heart, soul, mind, and strength. May I serve You with boldness and courage and bring glory and honor to Your name this day. I will not live in fear because You are my refuge and fortress. In Jesus name, Amen.
Love You All to Life!
Jesus—Our Source and Sufficiency!
