Count the Cost
(Inspired by Anina McArthur’s Proud to Be Humble devotional)
“Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called children of God.” Matthew 5:9 NIV
What price are you willing to pay just to be right? Oftentimes the cost is too high but we allow our pride to take front and center. Truth be told I certainly have not always shied away from an argument for the sake of keeping the peace. And the reality is, the constant back and forth to prove a point only generated more strife and opened the door for harsh words that were hard or couldn’t be pulled back. Lord help me!
Let us remember the most important truth of all, God Is love. “Love is patient and kind. Love is not jealous or boastful or proud or rude. It does not demand its own way. It is not irritable, and it keeps no record of being wronged. It does not rejoice about injustice, but rejoices whenever the truth wins out.” (1 Corinthians 13:4-6 NLT)
Prayer: Lord help me to be the adult in the room and not give way to arguments for the sake of being right. Instead may I always be the peacemaker, the one to bow out “gracefully”, and refuse to allow the enemy to win.
Love You All to Life!
