Time to Reset and Recenter

We are constantly living in a rat race—pursuing, spinning, and scurrying to survive, achieve and thrive until we are exhausted and our lives out of control. In trying to keep pace with the demands of society and others, we may find ourselves uptight and stressed out, unable to enjoy life as God intended, and all because we’re using the wrong yardstick.

We tend to look for and measure success” by the world’s culture and on its terms rather than God’s. I don’t believe we set out to do this, it’s just our society’s influence that we have so unwittingly embraced. The Bible admonishes us in Romans 12:2, “And do not be conformed to this world [any longer with its superficial values and customs], but be transformed and progressively changed [as you mature spiritually] by the renewing of your mind [focusing on godly values and ethical attitudes], so that you may prove [for yourselves] what the will of God is, that which is good and acceptable and perfect [in His plan and purpose for you].”

Know that God has plans for your lives that supersede any and everything the world offers. So in those times when you find that your life appears to be crumbling around you—your hopes, dreams, desires and plans all flailing away—get off that “merry-go-round” that’s not so merry after all, and recenter yourselves. Look to Jesus as your source for everything—your joy, your peace, and your provision.

Lay hold to that old gospel song Richard Smallwood used to sing and “Keep Jesus as the Center of Your Joy”.  When you do this, the things you once thought were important begin to pale in comparison as you become immersed in a life that pleases Christ. Unlike anyone else you’ll ever find, He never fails and never disappoints.

Love You All to Life!!
